The best maintenance schedule is one that takes into account a fact of life that many car owners forget: sooner or later, the components on all cars wear out.

So, even if you dutifully rotate and replace tires, change the oil every 3,000 miles and keep your brakes in good repair, that simply isn’t enough to maintain your car.

Has your brake fluid ever been changed? Have you changed your engine coolant every two years?  Are you aware that your suspension eventually will wear out?

Drivers’ maintenance philosophy comes down to “fail and fix” vs. preventative maintenance. It’s the difference between “Hey, I just need an oil change” and deliberate, periodic maintenance at planned intervals.

At BEM, we offer a range of services:

· Routine 3,000-mile oil change (including test drive, lift inspection and premium oil brands)

· 7,500-mile service, which includes a thorough on-the-rack inspection of suspension, fluid levels, tire rotation, brakes

· Tune Up – 30,000-mile service that takes a day and includes changing all filters and replacing all liquids

Once we know what your vehicle really needs, you can make an informed decision that best suits you and your car’s current condition. We’re not looking to upsell or meet some arbitrary timetable – our aim is to help you prolong your vehicle’s life.

What Happens to Your Oil After We Change It?

We recycle under the auspices of a program developed by the California Integrated Waste Management Board and assisted by Sonoma County.

We place the fluids in rugged containers that have been designed to minimize the possibility of spilling or breaking.  When we accumulate enough recyclable fluids, we make a “run” to one of the more than 40 state-approved recycling centers located around Sonoma County and turn them in.

From there, a fairly simple cleaning process allows recyclers to remove sludge and particles from motor oil and other lubricants and turn them into fuel oil.

Wearing Sonoma Green

"Mark Singleton, whose British European Motors has earned a Sonoma Green Business sticker, operates a machine for recycling antifreeze.

Of the program, he says: 'They show us what to do instead of our having to be frightened of what they might find. It's really nice."
