As with any growing enterprise, BEM has reached the point where the top man can’t tend to everything. That’s why GM Mark Singleton decided to take a page from Donald Trump and bring on an apprentice to help him run the front office. His name is Ronnie Oakes, and like Mark, he’s a generalist who wears several hats. “I work as BEM’s service writer and advisor, answer the phones, greet customers and generate work orders, distribute work assignments, set work schedules and, maintain parts inventories as well. I enjoy the mental challenge and variety of the front-office position.” says Oakes. He’s also the new “buck-stops-here” person. “I’m the one who’s trusted to answer questions and runs things when Mark’s not here. I’m very much like an apprentice here. I’m learning how to run a shop while taking a load off Mark.” Oakes was born and raised in Santa Rosa, and now lives in Rohnert Park. His previous auto industry experience saw him starting in a parts department where he advanced to service writer and then to assistant service manager. A co-worker of his interviewed with BEM and saw that the Company was also looking for a service writer/front-office person, he suggested Ronnie. “Ronnie has been a big help to me,” says Mark. “As I develop British European’s business model, it’s a huge help to be able to relinquish many day-to-day concerns to a reliable assistant that allows me to oversee restoration work.” |
