German Motors, a Spin-off of BEM,
Opens in New Space Across the “Channel”

British European Motors has spun off a new auto repair shop, German Motors, which opened in December in a 2,500-square-foot facility across the way from BEM in Rohnert Park.

The new two-man shop is co-owned and managed by Craig Cassidy, a seasoned German car technician with 16 years of repair experience. German Motors deals primarily with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Porsche automobiles.

“We’ve thought about opening German Motors for about two years,” says BEM Managing Director Mark Singleton. “We realized as we repaired British and German cars that differences in the basic design philosophies of both nations were making it harder for technicians to specialize in both types of cars.

“There’s a different thought process a technician goes through when he’s working out how to fix a Jaguar or Land Rover vs., say, a Mercedes or BMW. You’ve got to be tuned into a certain way of thinking, this can get difficult when there are two different ways of thinking.”

Singleton says that all BEM customers who have been bringing their German cars to him for repair can continue to do so. “We’ll introduce them to Craig so they can be comfortable knowing he and German Motors are under the umbrella of British European. As German car owners learn just how good Craig and his assistant are, we can begin to have German Motors handle all of that business directly.”

Now that German Motors has taken up residence across the parking lot from BEM, Singleton says he’s dubbed the asphalt patch “the English Channel.”
